As members are well aware, U3A classes and activities have been suspended since Wednesday, 18th March.
ALL Term 3 activities have been cancelled. A decision about Term 4 will be made by the new Committee (see below). However, it is anticipated that we will be able to hold very few, if any, courses involving any physical gathering.
This has been a very challenging time for all of us. Apart from the need to comply with all official directives and advice, we are very aware of the need to help protect the well-being of all our members, which is why we are not raising false hopes about courses resuming in the near future.
The AGM this year will take place on 17th September as scheduled but under a process devised in consultation with U3A Network Victoria that avoids all physical contact. The notification of our Special COVID-19 AGM Process for 2020 will be emailed, or delivered to those without email, on 20th August.
2020 Membership Fees
The Committee decided at their July meeting that those members who joined near the end of Term 1 and have been unable to attend classes will have their 2020 membership carried over to 2021 at no further cost. Any member wishing to discuss their situation should contact the Treasurer directly.
Fee Structures for 2021
The following proposal for the Fee Structures for 2021 will be put to the members at the AGM:
“The 2021 Full Membership to be $25 for current active 2020 Full Members. Further, ALL 2020 Leaders (including Leader Participants) to pay nothing for 2021. 2020 Associate Members and OER Members also pay nothing for 2021. The fee structure for new members in 2021 to remain the same as for 2020 at $50”
$5000 Grant Application Successful
We are pleased to inform members that we received news on 27th May that we were successful in our application, under the Federal Government Volunteer Grant 2019 scheme, to the tune of $5000 enabling us to purchase “Portable PA Equipment” for use by our organisation. This PA system will be available for meetings, performances and entertainment at all venues used by U3A Healesville.
