U3A Healesville

University of the Third Age

MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC………Strings N Things comes to U3A

On the 16th September 2012 the poster you see below was sent out to members of the Healesville Community inviting people to an “Acoustic Jam ” at what was the Grind N Groove bar (now My Little Kitchen).

Auriol Hannaford and Rachel were the instigators of a group that has lasted for 9 years and has used various venues including the Terminus Hotel and Badger Creek Hall.

Over the years we have had guitars, banjo’s, harmonicas, harps, tambourines, ukuleles, fiddles, singers and even an Auto Harp you name it and its welcome at Strings. We have often hosted 25 to 30 people at the Badger Creek Hall and we look forward to that continuing and maybe even growing at the Senior Citizens Hall on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of the month.

Our first session will be Thursday the 8th April, yes it is term break but we can’t wait to get started.

I would like to say a big thankyou to Kathy Cameron and the Committee at the Badger Creek Hall for allowing us to hire the hall over the last few years, it is a great venue with lots of history. ( below are a couple of pics of our last night at BCH courtesy of Lynda Hynes.

PS did I say everyone is welcome from beginners to experts. This is not a teaching session but you are sure to learn something.
