Welcome to our members newsletter for March 2024. It’s a great place to catch up on what’s happening in our organisation and around Healesville. |

From the president |
It was pleasing to see a number of U3A Healesville members, mainly Scrabble participants, attend the funeral of Liz Job. As we previously shared, Liz died on 3 February at about 3pm apparently following a fall. It is not yet clear what caused the fall but we do know she was attended to soon afterwards. At her funeral, her family remembered a woman who was a loving mother, adventurous, full of fun and loved her two dogs. Liz joined U3A Healesville in 2019 and soon took over the leadership of Scrabble in the library. We are grateful for all she did as a leader and pass on our condolences to her family. John Pascoe |

Gardening Club, 21 February Their first event for the year, a visit to Vicki Young's permaculture garden, was a ‘blooming’ success. Here’s Vicki showing Julian tropical fruit growing in a poly tent.

Friday at 5, 23 February Although it was a cool night – a contrast to most days earlier in that week – about 40 members came along to celebrate our first ‘Friday at 5’ for the year. It was particularly pleasing to see a number of new members join in. There were plenty of refreshments, socialising and background music from our string players.

Ukulele Workshop, 25 February This workshop, presented by Margaret Crichton in the Court House, was very popular. Players included ukulele veterans and those who only started their ukulele journey this year.
